A minimalist design approach allowed a rational design that balanced simplicity with exuberance, for a modest scale house in a beach side historic neighborhood.
The use of traditional materials such as stucco, concrete metal and glass was implemented.
The narrow property is oriented on an east-west axis; the structure is comprised of simple volumes surrounding an elevated pool that cascades towards the most frequently used communal spaces. Major transparencies are oriented around the pool, while the eastern and northern elevations provide privacy from the streets which border the property.
Due to the site’s location, the artful composition of the house creates a focal point as well as an abstract sculpture that compliments the established urban patterns, and manifests the evolution of the architectural heritage of this community.
