1208 Collins is situated in the core of one of the world’s most well-known historic districts, the Art Deco district of Miami Beach. Flanked by historically significant and distinctly Art Deco hotels on either side, the Marlin to the South & the Webster to the North, the main principle driving the design strategy is achieving an appropriate integration into the protected and revered context of the site. The building does not mimic it’s neighbors architectural language, instead this mixed use infill building incorporates a contemporary reinterpretation of some hallmark features of the Art Deco vocabulary, most notably the brow or solar shade, color palette, and assemblage of volumes.
